Ministering to those in the prime of their life.
Are you 50 years old or older? If so, this email may interest you!
Do you realize that you are in the “PRIME” of your life? I get it, all the advertisements try to convince us that we are over the hill and just not “It” anymore but what they don’t tell us, is that people are living much longer these days and we are in fact in the “PRIME” of our lives. True, we may not be able to do some of the physical things we used to do, but that does not stop us from doing we want to do. With our age comes some significant advantages. Most of us have worked hard all our lives, and we are now able to do things we could never have done when younger. Maybe you have not retired and work full time, if so, there is a good chance you have more time and more funds to do things today than when you had a house full of kids. If you are retired, you may be living on a fixed income but isn’t it amazing that you find a way to do what you want to do? Then there is wisdom! Aren’t you glad you that you have grown in wisdom over the years? We have been through enough trials in our lives that the major crisis that young people struggle with seem like nothing more than small bumps in the road. As an over 50 man, I am truly blessed! There are times I think it would be great to be 25 again, to be able to run and jump and play like I once did, but then I realize the greatest blessings in my life have come as my hair fell out and my whiskers turned grey.
As I look around Cornerstone, I see that one of our largest demographics is folks over 50. People in the “PRIME” of their life. Still, I see very little focus on this group of people. Each of us is grateful for the opportunity to attend church, participate in bible studies, and serve at church functions. Still, as a
53-year-old, I want more!
I want to invite you to join me as we embark on developing a ministry that will focus on those of us over 50 who are living in the “PRIME” of our lives. With your help, we will build this ministry to be a vibrant part of the work at Cornerstone and Dawson County by focusing on:
· Fellowship (Friendship, companionship)
· Evangelism & Discipleship (helping others become like Jesus)
· Service (serving those inside and outside our church family)
· Shepherding (caring for our brothers and sisters in Christ)
If you would like to learn more or share your ideas, I ask you to please join me on June 11th at 7:00 pm to dream a little and discuss this excellent opportunity.
